Using Shogun Post to reprocess data captured in Shogun Markerless improves the results of your markerless captures. We strongly recommend that you use this automated process for all your markerless captures.

## Real-time vs local data

Shogun Markerless processes real-time video data from Vicon Vanguard cameras at quarter HD, 60 Hz. We chose these settings to provide the best balance of data quality while minimizing dropped frames and other potential errors that can occur as a result of higher settings.

While you cannot increase the real-time capture resolution, you can increase the frame rate although we advise against this. We recommend that you use 60 Hz.

At the same time as real-time capture, the cameras save the same data locally at 1080p, 120 fps. This local data is then used in reprocessing. The increased resolution improves the data quality and the increased frame rate provides smoother results and additional data that can be used in editing workflows.

## Reprocess markerless data

1. To load your markerless mocap data files (.*mcp*), do either of the following:
  - Open Windows File Explorer, locate the files you saved and drag and drop them into the Shogun Post view pane; or
  - On the **File** menu, select **Open** and locate your files.
2. If dropped frames are detected, you are prompted to reprocess the data.
3. We normally recommend that you click **Yes** but note that reprocessing takes on average four times as long as the take length, so a 10-second capture requires 40 seconds to reprocess.  
If you only want to reprocess a section of your capture, to save time, we suggest that you do not reprocess data on opening the file and instead, crop the range of time required first.

**To crop to the required time range:**

1. Play your capture and make a note of the start and end frames of the required range.
2. Enter these values into the **Play Start** and **Play End** inputs either side of your timeline to crop your play range.  
Only this data will be reprocessed, saving you time.

**To reprocess the markerless data:**

1. Open the **Processing** panel and select the **Markerless Mocap** tab.
2. To complete the process, click **Reprocess**.
