After you've prepared your Vicon Markerless system, you can create a subject to represent the performers in Shogun Markerless.

> ⚠️ **Important**
> ⚠️ If you are creating multiple subjects, you must create them one at a time.

When you've created a subject, you can then calibrate it.

If you are not happy with the calibration or want to assign a subject to a different performer, you can recalibrate the subject.

> ✅ **Tip**
> ✅ If a performer is too close to the edge of the volume, their subject may not be tracked well. Try a test capture to establish volume boundaries for successful tracking.

**To create and calibrate a subject:**

1. Ask the performer to enter the volume.
2. (Optional) To see a cloud of reconstructions that represent the performer in the volume, in the **Workspace**, select **3D View**.
This lets you check that the reconstructions are not jittery and that all keypoints are detected.
3. In the **Tracking **panel, on the **Setup** tab go to the **Subject** section. In the **Subject **field, enter a name for the subject you want to create, and click **Create**.
The subject is created and a warning triangle is displayed next to its name, indicating that it needs to be calibrated.
4. To calibrate, right-click the subject and then click **Calibrate**.
The subject icon changes to a T-pose, indicating that the subject is ready to calibrate.
5. Ask the performer in the volume to stand in a T-pose to calibrate their subject.
For tips on how to stand in an optimal T-pose, see [Perform a T-pose](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunMarkerless121/pages/1253507139).
In the 3D View, when your subject is calibrated, the cloud of reconstructions turns into a subject skeleton.

If you want to create another subject, repeat the steps above for the next performer.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️ If a performer leaves the volume, you must [reboot their subject](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunMarkerless121/pages/1253507136/Recalibrate+and+reboot+a+subject#reboot) when they return to the volume.
