As explained in [Hybrid tracking with finger markers](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunMarkerless121/pages/1253507077), Shogun Markerless 1.20 and later enables you to combine the use of markers to track fingers with markerless tracking of performers.

Whether you’re attaching the markers directly to the performers' hands or are using a custom glove solution, use 9 mm markers for finger tracking.

To ensure that the finger markers produce the best results, follow these guidelines:

- **Gloves**: If you’re using Vicon-supplied gloves, ensure all the markers for the template you want to use (3-finger, 5-finger or 10-finger marker set) are attached to the gloves.

If you’re attaching markers directly to the performers' hands, these guidelines also apply:

- **Wrists**: Place the wrist markers on either side of the wrist so that both markers are the same distance down the arm and as close to the joint center as possible.
- **Hands**: Place the hand markers just before the knuckle of the index and pinky finger.

- **Fingers**:
  - For 3 finger-marker setups, place a marker just before the first joint of the index, pinky, and thumb, so that it is not affected by the rotation of the second joint (see the photo of the [3 finger-marker set](#3-finger-markers)).
  - For 5 finger-marker setups, place the markers at the end of each of the five fingers (see the photo of the [5 finger-marker set](#5-finger-markers)).
  - For 10 finger-marker setups, place the markers at the end of each finger, and mid markers on the second phalange apart from the mid (see the photo of the [10 finger-marker set](#10-finger-markers)).
