Shogun Markerless 1.20 and later enables you to include hybrid markerless fingers (sometimes referred to as hybrid optical hands) in your captures. This feature combines the convenience of markerless tracking for the body with the accuracy of marker-based tracking for the hands and fingers.

> ⚠️ **Number of optical cameras**  
> ⚠️ With the default Shogun Markerless optical camera count of 6 x Vero 2.2 cameras, optical fingers are likely to produce labeling issues and to require further cleanup in Shogun Post.

> ⚠️ For better results, we recommend that at least 6 x extra Vero 2.2 cameras are added, with at least 4 of them placed at each corner of the volume in a low position, to track hands as they are upturned or occluded. Note also that adding more subjects with fingers and/or props requires a higher camera count. Your results are also affected by your choice of finger marker set.

Before you begin hybrid tracking with finger markers in Vicon Shogun Markerless, make sure you have completed the following preparations:

- Set up your markerless system as described in *[Getting started with Vicon Shogun Markerless](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunMarkerless121/pages/1253507112)*.
- Check that your system includes Vicon Shogun Markerless 1.20 or later.
- Place the fingers markers on the appropriate marker set gloves (which you can obtain from Vicon) or directly tape them to the performer’s hands. > ⚠️ **Important**  
> ⚠️ Before you create a subject in Shogun Markerless, make sure the performers have correctly placed markers on **both hands**.

**To create and calibrate a subject with finger markers:** 

1. Ask the performer to enter the volume.
2. (Optional) To see a cloud of reconstructions that represent the performer in the volume, in the **Workspace**, select **3D View**.   
This lets you check that the reconstructions are not jittery and that all keypoints are detected.
3. In the **Tracking **panel, at the top of the **Setup** tab, make sure the Advanced parameters button  is selected.
4. In the **Subject** section, enter a name for the subject in the **Subject **field.
5. In the **Template **field, select the appropriate template for the marker set your performer is using:
6. In the **Skin** field, select the **ViconActorFingers** skin.
7. Click **Create**.
  The subject is created with the selected template and at the top of the Tracking panel, a warning triangle is displayed next to its name, indicating that it needs to be calibrated.
8. To calibrate, right-click the subject and then click **Calibrate**.  
The subject icon changes to a T-pose, indicating that the subject is ready to calibrate.
9. Ask the performer in the volume to stand in a T-pose to calibrate their subject.

If you want to create another subject that includes hybrid markerless fingers, repeat the steps above for the next performer.
