What is installed?

The Shogun installer enables you to install the following components:

- **Vicon Shogun Live**: Installs Vicon Shogun Live, which supports live functionality (real time and capture). Selected by default.
- **Vicon Shogun Post**: Installs Vicon Shogun Post, which supports offline functionality (post-processing). Selected by default.
- **Vicon Video Viewer**: Enables you to view .*vvid* format video files (produced by Shogun). Selected by default.
- **Vicon Eclipse**: Installs Vicon Eclipse, which is a standalone application for Vicon Shogun data management. (A data management function is also included in Shogun Post.) Selected by default.
- **Safenet Dongle Driver**: Enables you to use a Thales dongle, so is only necessary if your license uses a dongle. (You may need to reboot your PC after installation.) Cleared by default.

> ✅ **Tip**
> ✅ If you are setting up a network license server and you do not want Shogun on that machine, you can choose to download and install only the license manager (see [Set up a network license server](https://help.vicon.com/space/LicenseManagement/820609066/Set+up+a+network+license+server) in the *Vicon License Management Guide*).

Install Shogun Live

The following steps describe how to install Vicon Shogun Live. If you accept the default options, Shogun Live is installed, together with the other options listed in [What is installed?](#InstallationComponents) except for the dongle driver (only needed if your license requires a dongle).

**To install Shogun Live:**

1. Visit the [Vicon Downloads](https://www.vicon.com/downloads/) web page.
2. In the **Shogun** section, click **Download** and download the required Shogun Live installer.
3. In Windows Explorer, extract the file you downloaded to a folder to which you have full access.
:check_mark: **Tip**: To do this you typically right-click the file and select **Extract All** (the procedure may vary slightly, depending on your PC configuration).
4. In Windows Explorer, go to the folder to which you extracted the installer and double-click *Vicon_Shogun_Setup.exe*.
:warning: **Note**: If you attempt to install Shogun on a machine running a version of Windows that is earlier than Windows 11, you may receive an error message that halts the installation. The message instructs you to install a specified Windows update before re-starting the Shogun installation. In this case:
  1. Exit the Shogun installation.
  2. Download and install the specified Windows update.
  3. Start the Shogun installation again.
5. In most cases, accept the default options (see [What is installed?](#InstallationComponents)). If you are using a dongle for licensing, select the option to install the dongle driver.
6. On the **End-User License Agreement** wizard page, read and accept the terms and click **Initialize**.
7. On the Shogun installation initialization wizard page, click **Install**.
The installation pages and license agreements that are displayed depend on the options you selected in Step 4.
8. Click through the installation pages, accepting any necessary license agreements.
9. On the final installation wizard page, click **Finish**.
10. Enter the required information into the subsequent dialog boxes until the Shogun installation is complete.

## Next steps

After you have installed Shogun Live, ensure you complete the following steps.

1. Configure the network card (see [Configuring network card settings](https://help.vicon.com/space/Connect/1614840/Configuring+network+card+settings))
:info: **Note**: Normally, you need to do this only the **first time** Shogun is installed so if you have used an earlier release of Shogun with the current network card, you can go straight to the next step.
2. Configure the firewall (see [Check firewall and anti-virus software](https://help.vicon.com/space/Connect/1607823/Configuring+network+card+settings+in+Windows+11#Check-firewall-and-anti-virus-software)). You need to do this **each time** you upgrade to a new release of Shogun 1.#.
3. Configure the graphics card (see [Set up your NVIDIA graphics card for use with Shogun Live](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212233)). You need to do this **each time** you upgrade to a new release of Shogun 1.#.

> ℹ️ **Minor releases**
> ℹ️ If you are upgrading to a point release of Shogun 1.# (that is, Shogun 1.#.#), you can normally omit the above steps.
