In the Graph Plots view, you can display and select your data (for example, x, y, and z components of a marker trajectory) in graph format, plotted against time.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️ For definitions of the terminology used for graphing, see [Graph Plots terminology](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212249).

## Display data in a Graph Plots view

**To display a graph in a Graph Plots view:**

1. Ensure that in the **Workspace**, the** Graph Plots ** view is selected.
:check_mark: **Tip**: If your Graph plots view displays **No channel data available** or a similar message, make sure you either have a live system connected or are reviewing a capture (see [Prepare your Vicon system](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212166)).
2. At the top left of the Graph Plots view, click either the **S**elected channel types menu > Macro (inline-media-image)

or the **G**lobal channel types menu > Macro (inline-media-image)

and select the channel to display.
The **selected channel type** > Macro (inline-media-image)

displays channel-dependent data that requires you to select a channel source, such as:
  - A subject in the **Tracking** panel
  - A marker, prop or segment in the **3D View**. A segment can be a labeling segment (prop or subject labeling skeleton), solving segment (subject solving skeleton) or retarget segment (subject retargeting skeleton).
  - A camera in the **System** panel or **Cameras** view
:check_mark: **Tip**: If you select a dependent channel type and have not yet selected the required channel source(s), the Graph Plots view displays a message telling you the channel source(s) that you must select to display the selected channel type.
By default, **Auto** is selected. When a channel source is selected, Shogun automatically adds the primary channel type to the Graph Plots. For example, if you select a subject in the **Tracking** panel, the Position and Rotation channel type is automatically displayed.
⚠️ **Note**: You can only add selected channels if the **Selection Link** > Macro (inline-media-image)

is activated, otherwise, you can only add global channels.
The **global channel type** > Macro (inline-media-image)

displays independent channels that do not require you to select a channel source, such as:
  - The number of subjects currently tracked (Tracked Count)
  - The number of subject markers currently tracked (Labeled Marker Count)
3. Change the data displayed in the active channel using additional controls in the Graph Plots toolbar. For more information, see:
  - [Change the type of graphed data ](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212723) (eg, derivatives)
  - [Change the layout of graphed data](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212261)
  - [Change the scale of graphed data](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212356)

> Macro (scroll-pagebreak)

**To add a graph trace to a subplot in Graph Plots:**

If you already have at least one channel active in a Graph Plots view and want to add a trace to a subplot:

1. Make sure you have pinned all the channels that you would like to keep (see [Manage channels](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212170)).
If a channel is not pinned, it will be removed from the Graph Plots view.
2. When you have pinned all the desired channels, you can:
  - Add a trace to the existing graphs (for example, add the position data of Camera 2 to an existing graph of the position data of Camera 1)
  - Change the processing applied to the active channel type by selecting one of the graph plot modifiers (see [Change the type of graphed data](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212723))
  - Select a new channel type from the list of channel types at the top left of the Graph Plots view.
  - Select a new channel source by clicking on the device, subject, or marker in the relevant panels or views.
3. If you want to keep the newly added channel and add more channels, remember to pin it.

> ℹ️ ** Note **
> ℹ️ In general, any new channel source or type that you select is displayed according to the current settings in the Graph Plots toolbar. The duration of data displayed in the trace depends on whether you are reviewing live or captured data.
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ ▪️ If your system is live, the duration of the trace is limited initially by the **Live data range **(see [Change the scale of graphed data](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212356)) or the **Pause Buffer Size** (see [Vicon Shogun Live fundamentals](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212580)), whichever is shorter (in seconds).
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ ▪️ If your system is in review mode, it displays the trace for the entire capture duration.

## Customize graph plots

To customize the data displayed in the Graph Plots window, first choose your data (see [Change the type of graphed data](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212723)) and then make sure the desired channels are pinned (see [Manage channels](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212170)).

When you have chosen the required channel type(s) to plot, you can customize the way your data is displayed by selecting options from the Graph Plots toolbar to make the following changes:

- [Change the layout of graphed data](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212261)
- [Change the scale of graphed data](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212356)

> ✅ **Tip**
> ✅ To toggle the display of all available Graph Plots toolbar options, click the Show advanced button on the right of the toolbar.

As you customize your graph plots, see [Graph Plots mouse actions](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212279) to understand how to control the behavior of the graph plots window.

## Manage graph plots

After you have added all the desired channels and customized the layout of the Graph Plot window, you can save the current Graph Plot layout (including pinned channels) or load a previous Graph Plot layout using **Graph Settings**.

Use the Graph Settings to save and load a specific layout in the Graph Plots window. This includes any channels that are pinned (even if they are not present in the current session) or locked using **Lock channel selection**. It also includes the settings specified within the graph plot modifiers (see [Change the type of graphed data](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212261)).

Graph Settings only apply to the Graph Plots window and are a subset of the overall View Settings (see [Live - Customize views](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ShogunLive121/pages/1253212248)). This means:

- You can load different Graph Plot layouts while maintaining the current Shogun layout.
- Loading a View setting will load the graph settings that were specified as a part of that View configuration.
- Graph Settings do not have a specific auto-save feature but are included as part of the View Settings auto-save.

> ✅ **Tip**
> ✅ To change the interval at which files are auto-saved, go to **Preferences** (Shift+P), select **User Preferences** > **General** , and change the value in the **Auto-save interval** field from the default (60 seconds).

> Macro (scroll-pagebreak)

**To save new graph settings:**

1. On the **Graph Plots** toolbar, click Graph Settings > Macro (inline-media-image)

.
2. Click **Manage**.
3. In the **Manage Graph Settings** dialog box, click the Save button.
4. Enter a name for the graph settings to save.
5. Click OK.

You can now select your saved settings from the **Graph Settings** menu.
