Before you can request a network license, you must first install the Sentinel RMS License Manager, which is included in standalone Vicon Product Licensing.

> ℹ️ If you want to install your Vicon software on a standalone machine that is not part of a network, go to [Request and activate Standalone licenses](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/Nexus220/pages/897712446).

You can either install Vicon Product Licensing on the same machine that is to run Vicon Nexus or (more usually) on a machine central to all machines that will run Nexus.

You can install the Sentinel RMS License Manager software in either of the following ways.

- Using the standalone Vicon Product Licensing installer as described below.

or

- Using Thales' installer. You may obtain the installer from either Thales or through Vicon.

Note that if an older version of Sentinel RMS License Manager is already installed on your machine, it is replaced. If the same version is already installed, Sentinel RMS License Manager is not installed.

> ⚠️ Installing Sentinel RMS License Manager also installs the License Tools. If you are already using any other version of the Sentinel licensing tools, before replacing them with the version included with Vicon Product Licensing, contact Vicon Support for advice.

**To install Sentinel RMS License Manager with standalone Vicon Product Licensing:**

1. Go to the Vicon website [downloads](https://www.vicon.com/downloads/) page, search for `licensing` and download **Vicon Product Licensing**.
2. Extract the files, run *Vicon_Product_Licensing_Setup.exe* and follow the onscreen prompts to install it.
3. Run the Sentinel RMS License Manager installer that is included with Vicon Product Licensing, for example, *SentinelRMSLicenseManager9.8.1.msi*.

When you've completed the installation, you can request your network license as described in [Request and activate Network licenses](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/Nexus220/pages/897712489).
