In Capture.U 1.4.1 or later, you can assign a name to each sensor to help identify the sensor (eg, by placement or landmark).

To assign a name to a sensor, enter any capture mode (see [Start Capture.U and choose a collection mode](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IMU/pages/73110578)).

When you're prompted to select a sensor, swipe left on any sensor and select **Edit Name**.

In the following example, Real-Time Insight mode is used to assign sensor names. The ability to assign sensor names in the other modes is covered in each mode's workflow, found from [Start Capture.U and choose a collection mode](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/IMU/pages/73110578).

1. From the home screen, select **Real-Time Insight**.
2. At the bottom of the screen, tap **Select Sensors**.
3. In the list of sensors, swipe left on the sensor you wish to assign a name to.
4. To the right of the line that contains the sensor name, tap **Edit Name**.
5. Enter a name and press Return on the keyboard.
The sensor is displayed as **Serial # (Sensor Name)** on this screen and any others in which the sensor is identified.
6. Repeat as needed.

> ⚠️ **Note**
> ⚠️ Sensor names are saved to the iOS device and are retained across sessions.
> ⚠️ It follows that a specific sensor (identified by serial number) may have a different sensor name on a different iOS device.
