New features in Evoke 1.8

Evoke 1.8 includes the following new features.

> Macro (toc)

> Macro (scroll-pagebreak)

### Support for Active Wand (dual-sided)

> ![ActiveWandv4.png](media://7425002c-42a9-4c80-a881-4109aeabedc8)

Evoke 1.8 supports the latest Active Wand from Vicon. Equipped with high-intensity LEDs on both sides, Vicon Active Wand (IR only) and Active Wand Hybrid (NIR & IR) are the latest Vicon reference devices for mapping cameras accurately in a motion capture system. They can be used to calibrate both optical and reference video cameras.

For more information, see the *[Active Wand User Guide](https://help.vicon.com/space/ActiveWandDoc/339345707/Active+Wand+User+Guide)*.

### Improvements to Graph Plots

Improvements to Graph Plots include the two menus (**S**elected and **G**lobal channel types) as well as other enhancements:

> Macro (toc)

> Macro (scroll-pagebreak)

#### Selected channel types

This menu includes all channel types that require you to select a channel source (such as a device, subject, marker, or segment, etc) to plot a channel.

> ![SelectedChannel.png](media://4271e30b-a8c6-46f4-b8c8-e35b7f5e070c)

- From the **Selected channel types** menu, you can now select a new **Auto** channel type. In this mode, when you select a channel source, the most appropriate channel type is selected automatically in the Graph view.
- You can now also select from the following additional channel types:
 - **Camera Position** – the position of a calibrated camera
 - **Labeled Fraction** – the fraction of markers labeled for a subject
 - **Position and Rotation** – a shortcut for plotting both the segment **Position** and** Rotation** channels

#### Global channel types

This menu includes all channel types that are available without any selection (eg, **Enabled Count**).

> ![GlobalChannel.png](media://cfdb7428-96b8-442f-b9cb-c9bef819f145)

#### Selection link

The selection lock button is now selection link. You can add selected channels to the graph plot only when the current selection is linked, as indicated by the linked status of the button . Pinned channels and the global channel (if requested) are always added. All graph plot controls remain enabled regardless of selection link status, as global channels can still be modified while selection is unlinked.

#### Channel magnitude

To select from the options for magnitude computation, click **Change magnitude mode** . The options are:

- **No Magnitude** – such as plot `[TX, TY, TZ]` for a position
- **Absolute Values** – such as plot `[|TX|, |TY|, |TZ|]` for a position
- **Vector Magnitude** (length or Euclidean distance) – such as plot `sqrt(TX*TX + TY*TY+TZ*TZ)` for a position

#### Channel key

To display channel statistics, click the **Channel Key** options:

> ![ChannelKeyOptions.png](media://c8f4f965-a528-4b15-8a1f-3e285a4dfc53)

For each channel, you can select one or more of the available options:

- Current value
- Mean
- Standard deviation

The mean and standard deviation are computed over the channel cache range, which is a limited window for live data, or the whole clip when in review mode.

The channel statistics tooltip now only shows the channel value at the hovered time, but provides additional information on frame/sample numbers and data gaps.

For more information on using graph plots, see [Graph your data](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/Evoke18/pages/397969724) in the *Vicon Evoke User Guide*.

### Support for Vicon Valkyrie VK6

> ![vk6-support.jpg](media://d968d4a3-1536-4eb7-9051-44487b96a49c)

In this release of Evoke, Valkyrie support has been expanded to include the VK6.

Valkyrie VK6 introduces professional-grade motion capture to academic settings and indie studios alike, offering 6.1 MP resolution and up to 720 FPS for precise finger tracking, close interaction, and fast motion, in an accessible, resource-friendly package.

Evoke 1.8 is now compatible with the following Valkyrie cameras:

- **Valkyrie VK6**, with a resolution of up to 6.1 megapixels (2816 x 2176) and a full frame rate capture speed of 720 fps
- **Valkyrie VK8**, with a resolution of up to 8.0 megapixels (3712 x 2176) and full frame rate capture speed of 500 fps
- **Valkyrie VK16**, with a resolution of up to 16.1 megapixels (5120 x 3152, changing to 5120 x 3168 with Firmware 808 or later) and full frame rate capture speed of 240 fps
- **Valkyrie VK26**, with a resolution of up to 26.2 megapixels (5120 x 5120) and full frame rate capture speed of 150 fps

Valkyrie cameras can be used alongside Vantage, Vero, Vue or Viper/ViperX cameras.

> ⚠️ **Notes**
> ⚠️
> ⚠️ ▪️ Evoke performs a more precise lens calibration when a Valkyrie camera is present in the system. In this case, you cannot load any saved camera calibration file into previous versions of Evoke.
> ⚠️
> ⚠️ ▪️ Due to their high resolution, Valkyrie cameras are not recommended for use in systems that include virtual reality headsets as this may result in sub-optimal latency performance. For more information about compatible hardware, contact [Vicon Support](#).

For more information about Valkyrie cameras, see the [Vicon Valkyrie documentation](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/Valkyrie).
