## Origin topology diagrams

###
    Small Origin system - 1 PoE+

A single switch can reliably supply power for up to 24 Viper or 18 ViperX cameras (as well as a single Beacon connected). If a greater number of cameras are required, see [Large Origin System](#LargeOriginSystem) below.

In such a system, the Beacon is automatically specified as the sync source, which coordinates the synchronization between different elements of the system.

Large Origin system - multiple PoE+ switches

If there are more cameras than can be accommodated using a single PoE, you can chain up to 2 PoE+ switches, as shown above, to connect multiple cameras.

If there are more than two PoE+ switches, an additional Gigabit Ethernet switch with 10 GbE uplink is required, due to the volume of data traffic.

Any Beacons used in such a system must be connected into the Gigabit Ethernet switch with 10 GbE uplink.

### Multi-Beacon Origin system

Each Beacon can support communication with up to 80 Pulsars. When more than 80 Pulsars are required, multiple Beacons are required to support this, and [Pulsars must be balanced across available Beacons for best performance](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/Evoke18/pages/397967823/Turn+on+the+Beacon+and+enable+pairing#LoadBalance).

One Beacon is designated the sync source.

  - (If required - see below) Separate DHCP Router - **Not supplied by Vicon**

### Network Configuration

The Vicon motion capture system will use one independent network, with a network port configured by standard to 192.168.10.1. For more information on this see [Configuring network card settings](https://vicon-help.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/Connect/pages/1614840), connected according to system diagrams shown above.

Onward transmission to client connections is achieved with an independent network as shown below. This independent network must use a different port on the network card and a unique IP range that does not conflict with the existing Vicon network.

###
    Static IP

A static IP assignment is recommended, especially for less complex setups.

###

        DHCP router

If DHCP is preferred, a network router can be used as shown in the following example.
